Description

Recycled Rimu Darning Mushroom

Made exclusively for us at The Eye Of a Needle by friend and heirloom woodturner Michael Tarr, who works out of a factory workshop in Paeroa, NZ.

These darning mushrooms are made from rimu that was recovered from demolition material during a reburbishment to a house in Paeroa. The top and 'stalk' can be pulled apart so you can store needles in the hollow stalk when not in use.

Each piece is handmade with care and shows the design intracacies that only someone with Michael's experience and expertise can achieve. The beauty of each piece speaks for itself, and although they can be similar, no two mushrooms are the same.
