When we first moved to Cambridge 10 months ago, we literally felt like God said to us that we would ‘come to a bridge’ which was like crossing over for us in to a new season.

It took 3 weeks to find this gorgeous spot in the country, 15 minutes south of Cambridge, along the road past Lake Karapiro. We enjoy stunning scenery every time we drive to town, beautiful bird life, gorgeous rural views from the living room window, and the sweet aroma of living near dairy farms daily. It has taken us back to happy childhood memories of being rural people at heart, even though there have been lots of years spent on the outskirts of town since then.

We always knew that this would be a temporary dwelling, as we transitioned away from the place where our roots were first established. It has been such an adventure exploring new places, new cafes, new shops, new roads and maps thanks to Google. Our current location has been so central to many lovely spots to explore – Tauranga & Mount Maunganui, Hamilton, Waitomo, Te Awamutu, Sanctuary Mountain @ Maungatautari, and further north to Pokeno, Tuakau and Auckland.

In previous blogs I have mentioned a stirring to move on, and we have been pondering what this next move will look like. It feels like it will be more permanent, and we have a sense that it is north from here.

We took a giant leap of faith and bought a shipping container a few weeks ago. It is 20 feet long, and has been used only once, so is in tip top condition. We opted for an extra foot in height, and the plan is to pack up the house contents and store everything in the container while we wait for our next directions. The container is a lovely bottle green colour which we reckon will blend in well in any surrounding without standing out too much. At this stage we are considering the purchase of another smaller container in the shape of a cube. We will use that one to store everything we have been collecting for our online shop – furniture, fabrics, boxes, tuffets, cushions and plenty more. We have quite a collection now.

On a recent trip to Auckland when we were considering this first purchase, we were waiting for confirmation that we were on the right track. We had stopped at a set of lights. You know how you sometimes just want a sign in neon lights to bring confirmation? Well this was it! You could justify it any way you like, but I believe God speaks to us through every day signs and messages. So when we saw this one, we laughed! YES YOU CAN JUST WALK ON IN! It was like the Lord was saying to us JUST DO IT! Stop procrastinating and get on with it!

And so we did. And now we have Container One. The next 5 weeks we are planning to pack up once more, destination unknown at this stage. The joy of having a container is that you can store it pretty much anywhere. You could even sleep in it if you got desperate. (I’m not that desperate yet- its a wee bit cold right now!)

The other exciting piece of news is that once we are packed up…we are off on a plane.

My dreams to travel to India have been superseded by a trip to China. We are hoping to source product for our online shop, after meeting two of my sons and their partners in Hong Kong for a few days. Our itinerary is still being finalised, but the same message that we received about buying the container applied as we passed the Travel Agent 3 weeks ago…so we walked on in and I’m off to pay for the tickets tomorrow! More details on that adventure are still to come…

Our container was purchased through BOXMAN who are based in Nelson but have an office in Auckland. You can find them at www.boxman.co.nz

And our travel plans are being organised by Marie at HELLOWORLD in Cambridge. www.helloworld.co.nz
